Obsidian is volcanic glass, formed when felsic lava (rich in silicate minerals and other lighter elements) cools rapidly with very little crystal formation.
Snowflake Obsidian features white crystals of cristobalite– a form of quartz - interspersed through black Obsidian. The white flecks of cristobalite resemble snowflakes, hence the name.
Snowflake Obsidian is a deep level cleansing and protection stone, which removes emotional debris and protects us from our own negative traits, by helping us to be aware of our dark side. It is by seeing our own darkness without the emotional baggage that we’re able to make conscious decisions to take positive action and abandon negative traits and habits.
