Sugar skulls are a Mexican tradition. On Mexico's Day Of The Dead, people remember and honour their departed loved ones with a happy and colourful celebration replete with music and dance. Special altars are prepared and decorated with flowers, food and candles. Decorated skulls and skeletons made from coloured sugar are used to represent those who are deceased. These are placed on the altars and gifted to children. Today the sugar skull is a Mexican artform loved the world over.
